LORNE STREET COMMUNITY

In 2016, the City of Edinburgh Council commissioned a study to assess the feasibility of establishing a housing cooperative for existing tenants of Trust housing who were faced with eviction due to imminent sale of their homes. The study included investigating options for social investment and proposing structures for tenant ownership.

Eventually, without needing to pursue a buyout to save their homes, it was decided by the landlord in Nov 2016 that the Lorne Community residents would be able to stay.
